I can't resist adding one more gorgeous sunflower!

View from up the hill

Same spot - more zoom - look at the sunflower fields in the distance.

More zoom - you can see my apartment "block" - from a different era than the other homes.
Cool path, figuratively and literally!

A gorgeous heiloom tomato from the pazaar.

Laundry Time - and washing the bathroom floor time.
Corn, wheat, sunflowers.
What a happy sight and imagine acres and acres and acres of sunflowers.

  •  I visited Veliko Turnovo - applying for my Bulgarian ID card and doing a little "set up the apartment" shopping. What was high on my list to buy???  A fan and sheets with elastic to hold onto the mattress.

  •  Harvest time
A lot of smaller birds like to nest inside the bottom and sides of the storks nest.  Apparently they like hanging out on the utility lines too.

  •  I can see a storks nest from my window and I was wondering where they went during the day.  On my walk, I found out.  There were two scenes like this - one on each side of the road.
  •  These girls from my village sang in a town holiday (every town, village and city celebrates a holiday once a year.  Each one has it's own special day.)  The girls did a great job!

Do you know what these are?  I don't think there are any in Arizona but they are delicious.  They are Mulberries.  There are two kinds - the deep purple and white ones.  Makes a walk a real treat!
  • I helped tie some cucumker (krastavitzi) plants so they have plenty of room to grow up rather than out.  People work really diligently in their gardens -- before and after work.  Makes for very long days!

  •  Went for a 2 hour walk on this narrow road - mostly through farm land.  It's so beautifully green here.  I'm sure the pictures will remind folks of the US midwest.....well maybe not the horse/donkey carts.
  • Such a typical scene - people of all ages walk from home to the market daily.  Bread is bought fresh as are staples which don't come from gardens.
  • Hey - indoor plumbing.  And this is a utilitarians dream......the bathroom IS the shower.  Everything gets washed along with your body.  No worries about spilling anything on the floor - just spray the shower on it and down the drain it goes.  Cool!
