Photos August-Sept 2012

The town of Tryavna is very charming.  It's about 400 years old, but  has aged well!

This museum of a home has some "modern" wood sculptures in the yard.

It was wedding day for someone...look at the roses lining the walk into the restaurant.

Gourd Art (gourds yes, art ?)

It's late summer and this is what the farmers fields look like now.
The hills which are a symbol of "home" for me.  The terraces are pretty unique.  It's taken from one of the
villages I rode my bike to.
It's been a hot year for the sunflowers.  While they look like this at the end of their growth cycle, it seems
like the heads are smaller this year.  There was very little rain during the summer.

A beautiful na gosti table with Snezha, Venelina and Ivelina.  Tomato salad with onions and parsley,  french fries with sirene (feta), fried eggplant, rabbit.  For desert, melon and lemon poppy seed muffins which I made.

We had a delightful couple of days of rain.  I'm no sure why the swallows decided this was a good place to gather.

A lone stork fishing in the river in my village.  Storks were here, but I didn't see as many this year as I did last year.

Wind generators on top of a hill in Byala.  There are also solar panel "farms" in the valley.

An immaculate garden with an edging of parsley.

More awesome produce - dinner time!

Baba Stefanka wanted to treat us to homemade donuts called Mekitsi....yum.
